RP MEME: MEDIEVAL TIMES

Pick a scenario, post with your character and roll for the scene. Or just pick. That's cool too.

For the setting:

1) CASTLE. Throne rooms, private chambers, long hallways.
2) TAVERN. Rough-hewn tables, rough-hewn clientele.
3) DUNGEONS. Iron bars, rusty chains, and terrible food.
4) JOUST. The knights of the realm are battling.
5) FIELDS. It's a hard, long day working to grow food.
6) MARKET. There's a well, there are some craftsmen selling things. It's a medieval mall.

And once you've decided the setting, decide your role:

1) ROYALTY. You are a King, Queen, Prince, Princess or close relative.
2) KNIGHT. You are a warrior of the realm.
3) WITCH/WIZARD. Official court magician? Crazy old lady with a lot of herbs? You decide.
4) PEASANT. Yeah, your life sucks.
5) CRAFTSMAN. Blacksmith, woodworker. Apprentice or master is up to you.
6) SERVANT. Your life is utterly devoted to the one you serve.
BONUS: 7) TIME TRAVELER. ???

[ Abruptly, a young man (dressed in the rather elaborate getup of an alchemist) is tossed into a cell. It's quite dark, but he seems more preoccupied with not falling flat on his face with both his hands and feet shackled. He doesn't quite manage, but at least he catches himself on his palms instead of his nose. ]

Bwahahaha.

[It's very dark, in fact, the cell more of an oubliette. The shape against the far wall is just shadow on shadow, nearly invisible, save for the glint of metal when it moves, sitting up to peer at the new arrival. It's too early for them to be feeding it again, and besides, this new thing smells strange.]

... Hello?

[polarization]

[ The strangeness of his scent would only be compounded by its newoldforeign tang.

He grunts and pushes himself to his knees while carefully picking at the gravel embedded into his palms. Then he freezes. A cellmate? ]

... 'lo.

[i_id]

[Gingerly, Some rose from its bench, trailing the chain that attached it to the wall. It approached the newcomer, unable to stand straight up in the low confines of the cell.]

Who are you?

[polarization]

[ He can't help the stare he gives as the creature moves closer. It isn't entirely out of the darkness, but that figure is more intimidating than it should be. ]

Sefton. You?

[i_id]

[It came up against the end of its chain with a jerk, just out of arms reach, still well short of the cell's door.]

Some. This is my space. Why did they bring you here?

[There was no anger or irritation in its strange voices, just a curiosity.

[polarization]

[ He scoffs, shifting back to place himself against the wall. Partially to move away from Some, but also for support. ]

They said I'd become an, uh, an abomination. Said something 'bout seeing how long it'd take me to rot down here.

It takes not long.

[Some looked to the side, to the heap of bones left there, pushed as tidily into one corner as he could manage. There is little left on them to rot - he doesn't get fed often enough to waste anything.]

[polarization]

[ He follows the shadowed figure's gaze, mouth setting into a line. Well, then. ]

S' that why you're down here?

[i_id]

[It tugs at the chain, out of habit, not any expectation that it would finally come loose.]

They keep me here. I don't know why. It would be easier for them to let me go. Or... or just to not keep me.

[polarization]

They put you down here without even listing an offense?

[i_id]

I am an offense to them, I think.

[It could not draw nearer to the door and its faint light, but it sat down, as nonthreatening as it could be in case the boy would come closer.]

Maybe like you.

[polarization]

I doubt like me...

[ He doesn't move closer just yet, though he does angle his head as if trying to see Some more clearly. ]

What makes you think that?

[i_id]

You said they called you abomination. One of the men who brings- food- uses that as my name. It isn't, though.

[polarization]

No... it's Some.

[ That was definitely a stutter from the other, and he files it away. ]

I see. Maybe we've something in common. Or maybe they're all just stupid.

[i_id]

Well, they're human.

[No contempt, just a sort of resigned dismissal.]

[polarization]

Hey.

[ :| You're talking to a human, Some. ]

[i_id]

[You smell funny for a human.]

[polarization]

[ Yeah, well... shush. ]

I'm human.

[i_id]

Are you? Your scent is different.

[polarization]

You can tell?

[ Bit of surprise here, then a sardonic smile. ]

I'm human enough.

[i_id]

More human than me.

[Compromise, right?]

[polarization]

And what are you?

[i_id]

We say grues. Humans say demons.

[ He shifts forward, finally, standing carefully so as to not overbalance and tumble forward again. ]
