RP MEME: MEDIEVAL TIMES

Pick a scenario, post with your character and roll for the scene. Or just pick. That's cool too.

For the setting:

1) CASTLE. Throne rooms, private chambers, long hallways.
2) TAVERN. Rough-hewn tables, rough-hewn clientele.
3) DUNGEONS. Iron bars, rusty chains, and terrible food.
4) JOUST. The knights of the realm are battling.
5) FIELDS. It's a hard, long day working to grow food.
6) MARKET. There's a well, there are some craftsmen selling things. It's a medieval mall.

And once you've decided the setting, decide your role:

1) ROYALTY. You are a King, Queen, Prince, Princess or close relative.
2) KNIGHT. You are a warrior of the realm.
3) WITCH/WIZARD. Official court magician? Crazy old lady with a lot of herbs? You decide.
4) PEASANT. Yeah, your life sucks.
5) CRAFTSMAN. Blacksmith, woodworker. Apprentice or master is up to you.
6) SERVANT. Your life is utterly devoted to the one you serve.
BONUS: 7) TIME TRAVELER. ???

[Oh, look. He remembers talking to that man! He can't quite remember where or why, but he remembers it! Beaming, Hawke wanders over and claps a hand to Chris's shoulder.]

Serah! And here I thought you disapproved of taverns.

[ Ah crap. What the hell? He moves to fix his cloak (the only truly medieval thing he's wearing) and gives the man a completely unimpressed look. Could this day get any worse? ]

Oh, no. Something along the lines of 'is that where you spend all your time?', if I recall. Or are you just looking for that tour guide?

I might be, if one is offering.

[With another clap to his shoulder.]

[ Chris rolls his eyes, standing and once again making sure his cloak covers all of his foreign-timed clothes. ]

Somewhere helpful, maybe? Like a library?

[He laughs. Yeeeahhh sure, Chris.]

I'll take you to the Chantry, then.

The Chantry. [ He frowns. That sounds familiar. Nooot gonna futz with LJ and see what, exactly, was said of the Chantry, sry. ] They have good magic research material?

[fadedchampion]

Oh, it's magic research material you want. They might--but we're likely to get arrested trying to get in to see those books. It's the Gallows you want to go to, then--the Kirkwall Circle of Magi.

Gallows? Seriously?

[fadedchampion]

Kirkwall used to be part of the Tevinter Imperium. The whole of the city was built by slaves; the Gallows was where newcomers were broken, executed and imprisoned. Nowadays it's just the mages there.

[Sardonic. See what the people think of magic?]

Sure you want to go there, serah?

[ghostlighter]

Sure it's the only place I could look into how the magic works here?

[fadedchampion]

You missed the part where I said mages are guarded by templars who are lawfully able to kill them at the slightest hint their magic's going out of control, right?

Now, if we were in Denerim, on the other hand, I could show you the best shop in the city. But since we're in Kirkwall, the whole magic thing takes on more of a 'don't or die' overtone.

[ Well, okay. He considers that. ]

Did I mention the part where I can fly really fast? How far's Denerim?

[fadedchampion]

Over a day's sailing across the channel and then at least a week's travel by road.

[ghostlighter]

And... in miles, that's...?

[fadedchampion]

I don't know. Miles?

[ghostlighter]

[ Ughhh. ]

It's a unit of measurement. Do you have those? At all?

[fadedchampion]

... We have days, serah. Why would you need anything more than that?

[Amused.]

Because one of these days, you're going to find something a hell of a lot faster than... whatever it is you use now. Horses? Doesn't matter. You'll need more precision.

Horses. Or, usually, our legs.

[Even as a noble he rarely rode a horse.]

One of these days, serah, maybe. But not yet. We going to the Gallows or Denerim, then?

Denerim sounds the safer bet. I'm not walking the whole way, though.
