RP MEME: MEDIEVAL TIMES

Pick a scenario, post with your character and roll for the scene. Or just pick. That's cool too.

For the setting:

1) CASTLE. Throne rooms, private chambers, long hallways.
2) TAVERN. Rough-hewn tables, rough-hewn clientele.
3) DUNGEONS. Iron bars, rusty chains, and terrible food.
4) JOUST. The knights of the realm are battling.
5) FIELDS. It's a hard, long day working to grow food.
6) MARKET. There's a well, there are some craftsmen selling things. It's a medieval mall.

And once you've decided the setting, decide your role:

1) ROYALTY. You are a King, Queen, Prince, Princess or close relative.
2) KNIGHT. You are a warrior of the realm.
3) WITCH/WIZARD. Official court magician? Crazy old lady with a lot of herbs? You decide.
4) PEASANT. Yeah, your life sucks.
5) CRAFTSMAN. Blacksmith, woodworker. Apprentice or master is up to you.
6) SERVANT. Your life is utterly devoted to the one you serve.
BONUS: 7) TIME TRAVELER. ???

[ Young master alchemist shut up that is TOTALLY A CRAFT Sefton enters the tavern! Unfortunately, he needs something alcoholic for his next beverage, never mind his magical curse that makes him loathe such public space... ]

[fadedchampion]

[It may or may not be appropriate for the court wizard to be getting sloshed in the local tavern, but Hawke is there anyway. What, it's not like people actually need much magic to get through their daily lives, and who needs people constantly running after them looking for instant cures?

[Of course, this young master alchemist of course it is! is someone who pings his magic radar. Hawke's fairly sure he hasn't seen the lad before, but there's ~magic~ all around him. Still, he's just going to watch ... for now. (Though probably not for long, really.)]

[polarization]

[ In actuality, he may not be as young as he looks, but there's still the innocence of youth in his stance, if not in his gaze. He's certainly not been around in this city before. Quite the mystery. ]

Bartender.

[ No reply. Dude's busy. ... sigh, fine. He'll wait. ]

[fadedchampion]

[Wandering casually closer.]

So what sort of poison are you looking for here, serah?

[polarization]

[ His gaze flickers to Hawke. Oh, another lookie-loo. ]

Absinthe.

[fadedchampion]

Oh, is that all?

[He snaps his fingers, several times, fast above his head, and a moment later the bartender comes back down the counter with a faint grin and a 'finished already, m'lord?'.]

Absinthe for this far-too-young-for-suicidal-thoughts lad here.

[polarization]

[ Before the bartender can protest, Sefton pulls something out of his strangely-elaborate jacket: a badge, more like a license. Thank the heavens it doesn't identify him beyond his profession and skill in said profession.

The bartender seems more wary than impressed, but the bottle is presented and Sefton goes about placing the appropriate amount of silver for it. ]

Thanks. It's appreciated.

[ Not to the employee, but the nosy patron beside him. ]

[fadedchampion]

Oh, no trouble at all, serah! So tell me, which witch did you run afoul of?

[polarization]

... Pardon?

[fadedchampion]

You know. Your--

[He waves a hand to indicate all of Sefton.]

Which witch did it?

[polarization]

[ He frowns, pulling back just a bit. ]

You're magic.

... it was a wizard, named G'bral.

[fadedchampion]

Never heard of him. How'd it happen?

[Give him a good adventure story, Sefton!]

[polarization]

He was jealous of an accomplishment I made, and that I wouldn't share its spoils.

[ Sorry. It wasn't nearly so exciting as petty. ]

[fadedchampion]

So, what, he cursed you, you poisoned him, now you can't break the spell?

[polarization]

He cursed me and fled. It's... a challenge. I've gotta find him within ten years, or it's permanent.

[fadedchampion]

What, never thought to look up another mage? Just what's this curse got you doing?

[polarization]

It's... blood magic. Activated by contact between myself and another living creature.

[ He grimaces. ]

[fadedchampion]

[A beat of expectant silence.]

... And? What does it do?

[polarization]

Not saying.

[fadedchampion]

What, do I need to perform a magic trick first?

[He lifts his hands, forming glow wreathes of light around them which turn into glowing globes of light--and proceeds to juggle them.]

[polarization]

[ He watches, bemused, lips twitching upward against his better judgment. No inclination to speak up just yet, but this is still pretty entertaining. ]

[fadedchampion]

[Every now and then his hands wreathe again, releasing an extra globe to juggle, until he's got seven up there. They don't exactly seem to move through the air the same way balls do--they float, more than fly, but they also seem to try to escape Hawke's grasp, so that it's almost more a game of hide and seek than it is juggling.

[Eventually, though, he catches them all, lets them dissipate in his hands and bows with a flourish.]

There. Now, this magic of yours?

[polarization]

[ He moves back when Hawke bows forward, then simply goes to place the bottle of alcohol within his jacket. He doesn't leave, however. ]

A love enchantment. Filial, more than romantic. S' very strong.

[fadedchampion]

Ooh.

[He winces.]

Love spells; nasty. Come on, then. Can't see if I can do anything about this in a tavern.
