For thousands of years, the parallel worlds of Earth and Rowan have existed in an unsteady harmony. Travel between them was restricted to a single gate, closed by the Guardians, who were charged with the task of keeping the two worlds separate. But in the year 2008, the Gate Guardians disappeared. For the first time in living memory, the mythical creatures long believed extinct by humankind can journey to the world of Earth today - by the same token, humans from our own world may find themselves in an adventure beyond anything they ever dreamed possible.
What will you find on the other side?

Grab your attention yet? This is the Rowan Tree, an original (as opposed to fandom) forum-based RPG. Which I am running.
This is actually kind of an experiment. Me and my good roleplaying friend are trying out something new - the game will be run by the two of us as Narrators. As in, each player can play their characters, but we control the world around them. This means that we'll be able to give the players a much more in-depth world experience than if this were simply a player-based RPG.
We're looking for character applications now, and will be for the next few weeks. Guys, I know everyone on this flist is awesome, and I'd love to have any of you participate.
Anyone interested? Check it out.

Mostly, the problem with a lack of stats comes up in scenes involving combat. For that, we figure a lot of the time players are intelligent enough to figure out, on their own, what would happen, and resolve it accordingly. But for times when that doesn't happen, it'll be decided by each player sending 'rock', 'paper' or 'scissors' to the Narrators.

The setting sounds like it could be cool, though. It's not original, but it's got lots of room for folks to run around and do their thing, with crossover fun built into the premise.

Yeah - it's actually from an old TV show idea that I came up with. It was going to be based on the Gate Guardians themselves. But with a little re-imagining (and the INCREDIBLY exhaustive series bible I wrote a few years ago) me and my friend turned it into something that might be viable.

But, as I said, it's your funeral. And if you get the right mix of people you really won't need rules and shit, and it will be a truly fabulous experience. Good luck.
When were you thinking of playing, btw?

Are there any kinds of characters you know you'd like, or know you are in need of? Email me if you like. I'll put something together regardless, but I'd like to be as GM/mod friendly as possible.
Also, sorry I've been incommunicado lately. The threat of impending homelessness will do that to a person.

You know, at the moment we're kinda looking to develop a group to figure out why the Gate Guardians all went missing. People thrown into that by happenstance, or people who want to look into it on purpose, pretty much anything goes.
*hugs* I've been following the story. I hope you get secure housing soon :/

I'll definitely keep it in mind if I have time though. Or else you'll eventually convince me to join, haha :P

C'mon. You know me and Sisi could ROCK IT. - Cause it's the two of us running it, and we've been collaborating the whole way.
