(no subject)

Anyone on my flist ever addicted to WoW? Do you know someone who was addicted to WoW? Did it ever damage your life? And would you be willing to tell a journalism student who's doing a confidential class project?

She's a friend of mine. She's interested :)

Okay, awesome. Her email is LaurenCole2007@u.northwestern.edu; no pressure to respond, but I'm sure she'd really appreciate it if you did.

My ex had a WoW addiction. We nearly broke up over it. So I guess I could comment, if she's interested.

She would indeed be interested; her email is LaurenCole2007@u.northwestern.edu.

I think the majority who play wow on any kind of serious level is a little addicted. Once you get into the realms of raiding, that's where the problems tend to begin.

I can honestly say i have time where i'll play for hours straight for days at a time and times, then i pul myself out and don't play for days. What my fiancé and i find so addictive is boss kills and the community at large. I love most of my online friends and have met a whole bunch IRL, so it's like going down the pub after work for a few pints, but with pixels instead of alcohol :)

Ha. I've definitely been addicted to various online activities at various times in my life. At the moment, it's the compulsive need to Always Be On My Email At Al Costs. But addiction to fanfiction definitely has affected me.

If you want to give my friend a shout - email is LaurenCole2007@u.northwestern.edu.

Heh. I have a friend who is completely addicted. He sometimes plays while wearing a replica medieval Scottish warrior's helmet. However, I'm sure he'd assure everyone that this in no way, shape or form damages his life...

Hahaha. The Scottish warrior's helmet, I think, might actually be a little bit made of win.

Hey, and I'd swear blind that fanfiction has *never* damaged my life ^_^

Edit: Oh, and if you feel inclined to email said journalist student buddy, she's at LaurenCole2007@u.northwestern.edu

That Creepy Guy at my workplace is completely obsessed with World of Warcraft, and he's like 30 years old. He would just never shut up about it whenever we had to work together; it seemed to be the sum-total of his life and it was extremely pathetic.

My brother was for a long time--it very much affected his grades and social life, although most of his friends were just as addicted as he was (they would set up multiple computers in one room of the house and play as a group--before WoW it was Starcraft...let me tell you the voices for starcraft are creep-ee at 4 am).

I doubt he'd be willing to participate, tho. He's in pretty deep denial about it, which, of course, is part of the problem. I don't think he still plays much, but that might be because he's moved on to other games.
