...sometimes the forces holding them up can fail.

I just recently discovered "Prison Break", and can I say HECK YES. No spoilers, please, because I'm on the fourth episode and SPOILERS ARE NOT FRIENDLY, but I have to say I'm enjoying the show very, very much. Also, it's great, because my boyfriend likes it too - the main character's an engineer, and the science is kosher, so he's just fine with it all.

On the other hand, I've also discovered the Dresden Files (novels, not tv show, might get around to that sometime) and I find myself, while not really morally or intellectually engaged, definitely pleasantly entertained for a few hours at a time. And sometimes you just really need a fluff novel.

As a random side note: Does anyone know about cornichaun pickles? Like, the little tiny kind with the incredibly intense flavor? What places sell those? I know Central Market does, which is a subsidiary of some grocery store, but there have to be other places. I live in Chicago, for freaking sake. I should be able to find some.

Battlefront Words, the blog form of Red Haven, obviously has a couple flaws, as blogs post in reverse order. So, I therefore made a linking table to all the posts so far. My question is this: I know there are like two, maybe three people who actually care about Red Haven on my flist. So:

I haven't read the Dresden Files books, but I saw a few episodes of the show on SCI-FI, and I would rate it average.

I bet Whole Foods has all kinds of crazy pickles.

Average is definitely the impression I'm getting. Not all that amazing; doesn't suck too hard. Better things I could be watching.

You know, I haven't checked Whole Foods specifically, but they don't have the specific thing I'm looking for at Whole Foods in Texas, so I just guessed they didn't have it here. There are regional differences, though.

1) Prison Break does indeed rock. Season two is even better.

2) What exactly is Red Haven? Who writes it? (My first thought was of the Kim Stanley Robinson books, but those had two wars, I'm pretty sure.) "... I may or may not be intrigued."

Sweet! My brother says season 2 loses a little direction, but he's been known to drop a show more easily than me.

Red Haven is actually mine. It was a series of six television screenplays - a few friends of mine were fans - and I think it's safe to say it's what made me get of my ass and actually start writing slash instead of just reading it. Sometimes I think that half the time when I write slash it's just trying to approximate the emotional bond between the two main characters of Red Haven.

It's set just after a war between Earth and Mars. Mars lost. The main character - Derek Rayne, a Martian colonel - lost the deciding battle of the war; the other main - Angilo, an Earth general - won it.

Oh, neat! I figured it had something to do with the title of your lj and whatnot, but I hadn't realized you'd written it yourself. I wish to change my vote to "Yes." =)

Also, one of the cool things about Prison Break is that, before they started filming it, they had the entire first two seasons planned out, and you can really see it. I don't feel the second season loses direction at all, personally. (No offense to your brother.)

[identity profile] cerebel.livejournal.com 2008-05-07 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah - not only is it an influence on the title of my lj (the "mars" bit) but it's also the reason for the lj name itself (Cerebel). Yeah. I actually created this livejournal by fangirling a little over my own tv show. You've now called me out - yes, I am a complete loser.

Oh, I really like that. I've had problems with shows that try to do plot arcs and don't do that.

Yeah, I don't think my brother will mind :P I think he's a little picky on some of the stuff he watches anyhow.

I quite enjoyed reading through Battlefront Words, but I have enough things going on right now (and so many other things popping up in my flist) that checking blogs outside LJ often slips my mind. So seeing reminder posts would be a nice thing.

I'm not much help on the pickle front as I don't know Chicago and I don't care for pickles. Epic fail, FTW!

Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed.

Yeah, it's actually probably easier for people for me to update every ten or so battlefrontwords posts and just link them all to a central place. The posts themselves are usually pretty short anyhow.

Don't care for pickles? *gasp* I'm not sure if I can ever forgive you for this. ~_^
