The Netflix summary reads: "[A] stunning and recently divorced prison dentist (Julia Ormond) begins a love affair with a charismatic yet dangerous inmate (Tim Roth)."

I figured there could really be nothing in this but win. Any time Tim Roth is described as "charismatic yet dangerous" - really, what could possibly go wrong?

I think this entire movie hinged on Tim Roth being able to play 'charismatic, yet dangerous, with a side of emotionally vulnerable'. Everything about his character felt real, from the way he described the crime he committed to get into prison (the murder of his wife), to the way he beats up a couple fellow inmates (yum) to the way he looks at her as she's doing dentistry things to him (which I have never, ever found hot before now).

Julia Ormond? Not terrible. Probably pretty good, in fact, because the chemistry between her and Roth leaped off the screen, making the sex scene possibly one of the hottest things I've ever seen in my life. And one of the best afterglow sequences.

However, there was an actual plot beyond Julia Ormond and Tim Roth making eyes at one another and touching in inappropriate places ('places' meaning both spots on the body and physical locations). It involved some kind of drug smuggling thing, or maybe it was firearms, except I wasn't paying *that* much attention and I strongly suspect it didn't really make much sense anyway. I can just see the director saying "Can that, we need another minute and a half of eyesex. And mouth-touching. And 'dentistry'."

Overall, I have no idea how I'd rate this movie on Netflix. On the other hand, I'd like to watch it again. Possibly several times. To examine the minutia of Tim Roth's performance.

Yes.
