PRISON BREAK AAAAA

Prison Break made a lot of good moves tonight. I was surprised but pleased. For one, killing Whistler? GOOD MOVE. This show was going to start to strain credibility with all its "LOL UR DEAD" and then "JK UR MY BFF" moves (ie, with Sara, now with Gretchen and probably soon-to-be with Kellerman, though I have no confirmation on that, just my guess that he's too freaking badass to actually die).

And killing Whistler didn't just clear that up, it gave us a working disadvantage from the start that the characters have to overcome (fun fun fun), and, last but possibly the most important to me, it made Mahone a free agent again. He's no longer completely subservient to someone else's agenda with no character action of his own.

Also, hopefully he never wears that hat again.

Next, bringing back Sara. I was pissed about this. Killing a character that definitively and then bringing her back is cheap. I understand that it was all about contracts and such, but really? HER HEAD WAS IN A BOX. HER HAD. WAS IN. A BOX. RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. I thought it was gonna be hard to wiggle out of that one. But apparently not. Apparently it wasn't her head.

To be fair, though, they didn't do it horribly. I have to say, I like Sara a lot, even though this is a terrible, terrible move for her character. And I'm not sad at having a woman along with the gang of dudes trying to take down the Company. I don't doubt that the powers that be will find something for her to do, because they seem to be rather on it so far.

So, in conclusion, bad beginning, but it has the potential to do good for the show.

Mahone's plot, though, got a teensy bit utterly shafted. One minute [month] he's calling his wife and telling her to forget she ever met him, the next minute [month] he's all "Let's get back together?" and she's all "For defs". Shoulda known there was something suspicious there. Sure enough, less than half an hour later, she and her son are dead. Viola, traumatized Mahone.

There's really no other way to reset Mahone's character arc. Everything about him was the drugs and the wife and kid. He broke free of the clutches of drugs out of love for Agent Lang (or something - I actually rather liked that) in Sona, and staying away from his wife because of The Danger is getting tired. I like that he took the risk to go back to her. I don't particularly like that it happened so fast, and the only treatment it got was a brief flashback while Mahone and Michael are breaking into some Company dude's house in the second half. Sure, Mahone is quiet and still a little spastic, but there has to be some seriously suppressed grief there, and I sure hope he gets to break it out.

I think it's amusing how fast all the fugitives got busted. I mean, they spent a whole season handily escaping at every turn, and then in this episode, BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM whoa they're all in jail. Sorta hilarious.

In short, this episode didn't press my buttons like first and second season did, but it certainly didn't make me want to leave the sofa. I am so in for the rest of the season.

*pokes* You misspelled head.
Prison Break sound like a really awesome show. Unfortunately, it'd take me about a year to get through all 3 seasons.
